What is Conversion Rate?

What is Conversion Rate?

The Conversion Rate metric tracks the percentage of users who take the desired action to complete a goal or conversion (e.g. 11 percent of users completed a contact form on the Homepage).

A conversion rate is calculated by:

Conversion Rate = Number of Conversions / Number of Visits

Why is Conversion Rate Important?

Conversion Rate is an important metric to measure as a higher conversion rate can mean more potential to gain leads. However, a high conversion rate doesn’t always relate to performance. For example, if one month a website has 5,000 users and 200 convert (4 percent conversion rate) and next month only 1,000 users but 100 converts (10 percent conversion rate) month two has a higher conversion rate but month one was a better performing month.
