What is a Session in Analytics?
What is a Session?
The Session metric tracks the period of time a user is active on your site. Users can have multiple sessions on the same day or they can happen over a period of several days, weeks, and months. If a user is inactive for 30 minutes or longer, any future activity is attributed to a new session (default user setup within Google Analytics).
Why are Sessions Important?
Sessions are important to track as they represent the engagement of users and can help identify trends in analytics. Sessions can also represent the user’s intent by viewing their pageviews and determining how far the user is along the buying cycle/sales funnel.
